Offer Description
Within the framework of the ERC TimeNanoLive project, the mission will be to develop a new generation of fluorescence microscopy methods aimed at overcoming current limitations in acquisition time for single-molecule imaging. The project explores original strategies for temporal encoding of information, inspired by concepts from single-pixel imaging, and transposed to fluorescence microscopy through the use of structured illumination with variable frequency.
The objective is to shift a critical part of the spatial and photophysical information into the temporal domain, in order to drastically reduce the number of photons and the acquisition time required for image reconstruction, while preserving ultimate precision in single-molecule localization and access to key photophysical parameters (fluorescence lifetime, brightness, molecular dynamics).
This approach paves the way toward ultrafast imaging, compatible with the observation of living biological systems, while remaining applicable to the study of nanostructures and functional materials. The recruited researcher will contribute to experimental design, modelling of temporal encoding schemes, and data analysis, within a highly interdisciplinary environment combining optics, photophysics, signal processing and biology.
The person will contribute to various aspects:
- setting up the optical implementations of new concepts
- testing and validation of new experimental set-ups
- pilot/simulation programming
- characterisation of various samples
- supervising student (intership, PhD candidate)
- writing articles
- taking part in conferences
This work will be carried out within ISMO (Unité Mixte CNRS / Université Paris-Saclay) as part of a European proejct ERC TimeNanolive. The laboratory has an on-site culture room and various microscopes for single molecule localization microscopy.
