Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly 80 billion Euro of funding available over 7 years (2014-2020). Horizon 2020 is structured into three main pillars:

  1. Excellent Science
  2. Industrial Leadership
  3. Societal Challenges

Horizon 2020 in Ireland

Enterprise Ireland provides supports for Horizon 2020 participants based in Ireland such as:

  • A tailored Horizon 2020 website for Irish participants.
  • Financial Supports for researchers in Irish research performing organisations applying for H2020 funding.

Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) is a programme under the Excellence Science Pillar of Horizon 2020. The programme provides grants for all stages of researchers' careers - be they doctoral candidates or highly experienced researchers - and encourages transnational, intersectoral and interdisciplinary mobility. The Irish MSCA office provides more information and support on MSCA in Ireland.

 

Examples of EU Funded Research Projects

The Community Research and Development Information Service (CORDIS) is the European Commission's primary public source and portal to disseminate information on all EU-funded research projects and their results. This will allow you to see the types of projects and organisations funded by Horizon 2020 and past research funding programmes.
